Remo Barcatta

He began to carve as a boy, with rudimentary tools, producing his first mask at 14 years old.
Like many of his village he had to take the road of emigration, to come back home only after more than two decades.
In those years he uses to carve wood from time to time at winter, but only after retiring he begins to carve the traditional masks, producing an average of 5-6 pieces per year.
He is currently the last of the traditional creators of wooden masks in the Valfloriana valley.
His masks are often used in the revival of traditional carnival in the Valley.
He became part of the Association of “Mascherai Alpini” in 2011.
